If you’re planning to spend time working abroad this year or want to move on to a new country, I wanted to share some exciting new visa options for 2024!
New remote work visas are constantly popping up for people who want to take advantage of living in a new place while working online. Just a few years ago, there were only around ten to choose from, and now there are well over fifty.
Countries are rapidly trying to draw in people (and their foreign salaries!), and employees and freelancers are eager to take their work on the road, even if it’s just for a few months.
It’s an exciting time for everyone who loves exploring while they work.

New Digital Nomad Visas for 2024
South Korea Digital Nomad Visa
This is a very exciting new digital nomad visa as of January 2024. I can personally vouch for what a wonderful place to live it is, as I spent a year working there a few years ago. It’s one of my favorite countries, and I wish this visa had existed then! There’s just so much to do there.
To qualify for South Korea’s digital nomad visa, applicants:
Be at least 18 years or older
Be able to prove that they earn an annual income of over 84.96 million won (equivalent to roughly $64,300 USD)
Worked in the industry in which they are employed for over a year
Have private health insurance and a clear criminal record
If approved, the visas will be issued for up to one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. You may also be able to bring your spouse and children.
Japan Digital Nomad Visa
Japan recently announced that it will launch a six-month digital nomad visa to attract remote workers to the country in 2024, which is exciting news. Children and spouses can also accompany the applicant, which is a welcome addition for families.

The requirements to qualify for a Japan remote work visa include:
An annual income of at least 10 million Japanese Yen (approx $68,000)
Private health insurance and a clear criminal record
You must be from one of 49 countries and regions with which Japan already has a visa waiver. This includes the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan.
