How to choose your next remote work destination
Ask yourself these 5 questions before choosing your next remote work destination.
As a digital nomad, one of the most challenging tasks can be choosing your next remote work destination. After all, it's a temporary home so you want to have an comfortable and memorable experience while making money.
So, how do you decide where to go? Do you want to go for a location that potentially works out cheaper than your home country or go somewhere more expensive like Japan or Dubai?
There are many beautiful destinations with stunning beaches and cultural cities with a vibrant nightlife. While activities are a big part of being a digital nomad, there’s so much more that goes into where you should work remotely from.
Personally, I enjoy places with a diverse food scene and great weather that are also convenient to work from. The good thing about earning an income remotely is that you can go to just about anywhere in the world that offers the experiences you are after.
So, when it comes to choosing your next remote work destination you just have to think about your ideal experience and the limitations of your passport.
Always check how long you can stay in any country or region and don’t be taken by surprise!
Here are 5 questions to ask yourself when deciding on your next remote work destination:

Nomad Favourites
Check out our favourite books, podcasts, and products just for nomads.
The Power of Ritual: Turning Everyday Activities into Soulful Practices: This is a book that I recommend to everyone I know, and they always get something special out of it.
It explores how we can nourish our souls by transforming common, everyday practices—yoga, reading or walking the dog—into sacred rituals that can heal social isolation and find purpose.
I think this is a particularly helpful book for people who are nomadic or don’t spend a lot of time around people, such as remote workers. Here are some of my other favourite books for digital nomads.
SafteyWing Nomad Travel Insurance: We have talked a lot about picking your remote work destination, so don’t forget to make sure you have your health and travel insurance covered.
We have reviewed a number of insurance providers but always come back to SafteyWing as they offer the most comprehensive cover for nomads and handy monthly rolling cover that you can cancel any time and book while you are already abroad (read our full review of SafteyWing).
15 Minute Freelance Podcast: I’m a big fan of bitesize podcasts that you can fit in while making a coffee or snack! This podcast answers common freelancer questions with practical strategies and behind the scenes stories from writer Louise Shanahan.
